BSC DOINGS: The 11 Division I-A conference commissioners met Wednesday to discuss various postseason formats, including a five-bowl option. The meeting produced no decisions. Conference commissioners have suggested a five-bowl format that would utilize only four cities. The new proposal being considered calls whoever has the national championship bowl to host two games per year. The first would be part of the Jan. 1 BCS package and the second would be the national title game. If adopted, the format would keep the BCS lineup with the Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl. This would leave out other cities such as Jacksonville and Orlando trying to get into the BCS. Regardless of which format is selected, the BCS would open a spot for the non-BCS schools. There is an urgency to get something done because ABC and the Rose Bowl are negotiating this month and they would like to know what the BSC will look like beginning in 2006. At this point, every option is on the table including adding a fifth bowl and the “one-plus” format. (CBSSportsline.com)
