ALABAMA: Tide assistant coach Buddy Wyatt told BOL.com that defensive tackle Anthony Bryant is set to graduate in December. There have been many questions pertaining to his eligibility. Seven Tide signees have pulled out of the June 5 Alabama-Mississippi All Star game including Simeon Castille, a star defensive back from Briarwood Christian, who suffered a recent hamstring injury. Ten signees from Alabama will play in the game. Eighteen of Alabama’s signees have either passed through the NCAA Clearinghouse or are thought to have the required grade point average and test scores. However, Prattville defensive lineman Kevin Hamilton, Hoover defensive end Jeramie Holifield and Randolph County receiver Ezekiel Knight have not passed the Alabama High School exit exam. Hartselle receiver Nikita Stover might end up in a prep school because of his GPA. (Birmingham News)

TENNESSEE: Senior linebacker Kevin Burnett has been named to the Playboy All-American team. Offensive tackle Michael Munoz was selected last year, but declined the invitation. More than 300 former players are expected to be in town for the football letterman reunion during the UNLV opener. Defensive tackle Matt McGlothlin has been suspended for a violation of team rules. Phil Fulmer said he would have to go through the process before any decision is made if he can return to the team. (Tennessean)

OLE MISS: The Rebels have announced their 2005 season schedule including six home games against Wyoming, The Citadel, Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas and LSU. Road games are at Memphis, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Auburn and Mississippi State. Ole Miss has five swing games in this year’s schedule: Memphis (the Tigers return 12 starters on offense), at Alabama, at South Carolina, Auburn and at Arkansas. (RebelGrove.com)

GEORGIA: Signee Brannan Southerland set a new mark in the discus at the Class AA state track and field meet. His new record was 176-feet, 6 inches. After losing 30 pounds to get down to 260, David Pollack is determined to put on about 10 pounds of muscle so that he can play around 270. Pollack has 231 career tackles, 40 tackles for loss, 23 sacks and four interceptions. He has broken up 16 passes. Signee Brandon Miller is starting his Bulldog career at linebacker. There was a question where the Colquitt (Ga.) Miller County star’s initial position would be. He currently weighs 240 pounds. Charles Johnson, a defensive end signee from Hawkinsville, Ga., has qualified academically. He was the No. 4 defensive end prospect in the nation according to Rivals.com. (UGASports.com)

KENTUCKY: Wildcat officials are investigating claims by a contractor that the wife of offensive coordinator Rod Hudson traded game tickets for work on the couple’s home. Although the practice is not illegal, Wildcat officials want to be above reproach after the recent NCAA troubles. ESPN has picked up the Louisville opener at Papa John Stadium for a 3:30 p.m. eastern kickoff on Sunday, Sept. 5. Last year, UL won at Lexington 40-24, but the year before Kentucky won 20-17 at Louisville. (SI.com)

AUBURN: Senior cornerback Lemel Ages is transferring to Tennessee State where he will play immediately. Ages, who is a walk-on, has seen most of his playing time on special teams. (AuburnSports.com)

FLORIDA: Linebacker Channing Crowder and safety Jarvis Herring were arrested Saturday night after a disturbance outside a Gainesville nightclub. Crowder was arrested for disorderly conduct and Herring was nabbed for resisting without violence. Police offered Crowder several chances to walk away before they finally arrested him. This is Crowder’s second incident at The Palace, where he was accused of punching and kicking a man on the ground last year. Crowder pled no contest to the incident and served six months probation. (Gainesville Sun) O. J. Murdock (6-1, 180), a receiver from Middleton High in Tampa, Florida is interested in the Gators. He ran a 4.3 forty yard dash in the recently NIKE combine in April. Gator coach Ron Zook visited him last week. He said Florida, Texas, Southern Cal and Miami are his early favorites. (GatorBait.net)

LSU: The Arkansas game at Little Rock has been moved from Saturday, Nov. 27, to Friday, Nov. 26 at 3:30 p.m. eastern time. LSU and the Arkansas have played eight straight years on the Friday after Thanksgiving. (Tigerbait.com)

SOUTH CAROLINA: Billy Wiggins II (5-10, 178), an athlete from Charlotte (NC) Independence has received interest from the USC, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Georgia. He is going to camp at USC and Tennessee. Wiggins is a former teammate of Florida quarterback Chris Leak. Independence has had three consecutive unbeaten seasons and won three straight state titles. (GamecockCentral.com)

FLORIDA STATE: Linebacker signee Jae Thaxton, who comes from Hartwell, Ga., came in second in the Class AAA discus with a hurl of 153-feet, 10-inches. Brandon Perry (6-3, 280), a defensive lineman from Hawkinsville, Florida has a scholarship offer from FSU. He has received offers from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Nebraska, Auburn, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma State. His first cousin is Georgia signee Charles Johnson and another cousin, Michael Bozman, plays at Ole Miss. Perry’s nickname is “Baby Sapp”. (Warchant.com)

N. C. State: Linebacker turned defensive end Manny Lawson (6-5, 220) runs on the school’s 4 x 100 meter relay team that finished fourth in the ACC championships last month. He also long jumped 24-5. (ESPN.com)

MIAMI: In the prelims of the 100-meters in the Big East track championship five of the top six finishers were Canes: receiver Devin Hester (10.42), receiver Darnell Jenkins (10.47), cornerback Travarous Bain (10.52), cornerback Tanard Davis (10.59) and receiver Aikeem Jolla (10.70). (ESPN.com) Cane signee Willie Williams has been given permission by a judge to leave the house for his senior prom and graduation, but if he leaves the house without permission, like he did Tuesday, he could face jail time. Williams missed school Tuesday because he said he was sick. At different times during the day, he left to go to the pharmacy, to take the garbage out and to take a break to talk to friends. An electronic ankle bracelet monitors his movements. In order to go to the Carol City High prom, linebackers coach Andre Stafford must drive him there. He must leave no earlier than 7 p.m. and be back home by 1 a.m. (MiamiHerald.com)

CLEMSON: Kyle Browning and Steven Jackson are switching back to the offense after playing with the defense this spring. Browning returns to running back where he is fourth string behind Duane Coleman, Yusef Kelly and Reggie Merriweather. Jackson is now the second team fullback behind Cliff Harrell. Coach Tommy Bowden has been hampered by a herniated disc in his back and could face surgery. (TheState.com) Roderick Owens, a Wolfson (Fla.) High receiver (6-1, 170) out of Jacksonville, has received interest from nearly 25 schools including Clemson, Florida, FSU, Alabama, Miami, Auburn, Georgia Tech, LSU, Maryland, etc. (TigerIllustrated.com)

PERMANENT 12-GAME SCHEDULE: Although no formal legislation has been offered, momentum is gaining for a permanent 12-game schedule among school athletic directors. The next 12-game schedule will come in 2008-09. To make the idea a reality, a conference would have to send a formal proposal to the NCAA by the summer in order for it to come to a vote next year.

VIRGINIA: Darryl Gresham (6-3, 226), a linebacker from Roanoke (Va.) William Fleming has seven scholarship offers including one from the Cavs. He has also been offered by Maryland, Virginia Tech, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina and Clemson. Gresham had nearly 180 tackles last season in his first stint at linebacker. He was a tight end the season before. (WagonOnline.com)

CSS: Comcast Sports Southeast began a show Monday night at 6 p.m. called “Sportsnite”. The show is described as entertainment with sports being the underlying element. It replaces “Sports Unlimited”. The show has a new set with Matt Stewart, who was the single host of “Sports Unlimited”, and three other local sports talk hosts discussing the events of the day. Several comedians were auditioned for the host roles, but none got the job. (AJC.com)

ACC: Two more football games have been added to the Raycom/Jefferson Pilot television package increasing the total of nine games to 11. The basketball package has been bumped up slightly. The ACC has done quite well with both television deals in recent weeks. (AJC.com)

BOWL LIST TRIMMED: Nine bowls remain eligible for a possible fifth Bowl Championship Series game: Gator, Capital One, Outback, Peach, Cotton, Holiday, Insight and Alamo. The Motor City, Continental Tire and Liberty Bowl did not make the cut. (Florida Times-Union)

MORE BCS TALK: The “Four- and- One” model meaning five games played in the four BCS bowls has the off-the-record support of the majority of principles involved. After the four BCS bowls are played then the No. 1 and No. 2 BCS teams advance to the title game the second weekend of January. Under that system, each of the five BCS bowls would host the national championship game once every five years. The revenue from the plan is an estimated $70 million. The spot created by the inclusion of non-BCS schools would create a scenario where a Tulane, TCU, BYU might one day play in the Rose Bowl. However nothing is official yet, the commissioners want to hear from the 12 second-tier bowls that applied for the fifth BCS bowl to make sure that they are not passing up more money.
