AUBURN: Mike Blanc (6-4, 265), a three-star offensive lineman from Deerfield Beach, Fla., has committed to Auburn. He also visited Arizona State last weekend. Mike Berry (6-4, 296), a four-star center from Brentwood Academy in Nashville, Tenn., verbally committed to the Tigers last weekend. Tim Hawthorne (6-2, 200), a five-star receiver from Homewood, Ala., visited South Carolina over the weekend. He said Auburn is his leader, South Carolina is second and Georgia. Hawthorne is also considering Alabama. Earlier, he said the four schools were at the same level. Bryant Miller (6-3, 233), a four-star defensive end from Miami (Fla.) Central, said his leader is Auburn. He has visited Michigan State. He grew up a Miami fan, but the Canes have yet to offer. Byron Isom (6-2, 233), a three-star lineman from Lovejoy, Ga., is deciding between South Carolina and Auburn. Bottom Line: 19 verbals for the Tigers. Commitment Alex Rose (6-2, 177), a receiver from First Coast High in Jacksonville, is visiting FSU this weekend.
Tiger Cornerback David Irons has been granted a sixth-year of eligibility. Adam Patterson (6-2, 260), a four-star defensive tackle from Columbia (SC) Richland-Northeast, is visiting Auburn this weekend. He has visited Michigan, Tennessee, South Carolina and N C State. Kareem Crowell (6-4, 290), a four-star lineman from Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby, has de-comitted from Auburn and committed to Louisville. Tommy Tuberville met Thursday with Deantwan “Peanut” Whitehead (6-6, 245), the nation’s No. 4 defensive end from West End in Birmingham, Ala. Auburn will have its A-Day game on March 18. Spring practice starts Feb. 28.
SOUTH CAROLINA: Josh Johnson (6-2, 235), a three-star linebacker from Georgia Military College, is visiting South Carolina this weekend. He is also closely tied to Florida. Dekoda Watson (6-2, 206), a linebacker from Aiken, S.C., is looking at FSU, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. He visits Virginia Tech this weekend. Of the 28 players signed in the recruiting class of 2004, only 11 remain with the team. Seven of those players either quit or transferred. Five of the players including receiver Sidney Rice started against Missouri. Bottom Line: 23 verbals including a visit from Johnson this weekend.
The Gamecocks were visited by Kenrick Ellis (6-5, 318), a four-star defensive lineman from Lake Worth (Fla.) visited last weekend. South Carolina, Rutgers, Tennessee and
N C State are his favorites. Hutch Eckerson (6-6, 270), a four-star tackle from Lumberton (NC) verbally committed to South Carolina over Virginia Tech.
GEORGIA: Ole Miss commitment Josh Davis (6-6, 296), an offensive lineman from Tylertown, Ms., has changed his mind and committed to the Bulldogs. Five-star running back Stafon Johnson (5-10, 200), who is from Los Angeles, Calif., said he was pleased with his visit to Georgia. He is down to Georgia and Southern Cal after eliminating Washington. Georgia coaches visited him Wednesday night.
Georgia received a commitment from Geno Atkins (6-1, 270), a defensive tackle from Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, has committed to the Bulldogs. Brent Brewer (6-2, 187), a receiver/safety from Sandy Creek in Tyrone, Ga., lists Georgia, Mississippi State and FSU. He visits FSU this weekend. Reshad Jones (6-1, 173), a safety from Booker T. Washington in Atlanta, Ga., visits Georgia this weekend. He is down to Miami, Georgia and LSU. He said LSU is the leader after Tiger coaches visited him. Georgia recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner is being credited with turning Jones. Knowshon Moreno (5-11, 205), a four-star running back from Middletown, N.J., has cancelled a visit to Virginia Tech, but he also expects visits from Georgia and Florida coaches. He is down to Georgia and Florida with the Bulldogs leading. He decides on signing day. Tim Hawthorne (6-2, 200), a receiver from Homewood, Ala., received a visit from Georgia coaches Tuesday night. He is visiting Tennessee this weekend. Bottom line: 26 verbals and Jones visiting. Coach Mark Richt has been given an eight- year contract extension worth $2 million per year.
LSU: Keiland Williams (6-0, 215), a five-star star running back from Baton Rouge who is attending Hargrave Military Academy, decided Monday morning to attend LSU. He was choosing between Southern Cal, LSU and Ole Miss. Marcus Udell (5-11 187), a cornerback from Tallahassee Godby, is down to LSU, Alabama and Maryland. Udell visited LSU over the weekend. Ian Symonette (6-9, 320), a three-star offensive tackle from Houston St. Pius X, visited LSU over the weekend. He is down to Texas A & M, Oklahoma, LSU and Florida. He will decide Feb. 1. Ricky Dixon (6-1, 205), a four-star receiver from Reserve, La., committed to LSU this weekend. He had offers from Miami, Arkansas and Kansas State. Phil Loadholt (6-9, 345), a three-star offensive tackle from Garden City Community College, has committed to LSU. Bottom Line: 24 verbals and one visiting this weekend in Charles Deas (6-4, 315) a four-star defensive tackle from Ft. Lauderdale Dillard. Nebraska, LSU, Auburn and FSU are in his final four. He said FSU will be in his final two.
Jared Mitchell (5-11, 197), a Rivals100 receiver from New Iberia, La., chose LSU over South Carolina. Chris Mitchell (6-2, 195), a four-star receiver from Marrero, La., is expected to choose LSU over Miami, Tennessee, and Nebraska.
TENNESSEE: Michael Goggans (6-1, 247), a five-star tight end from Benjamin Russell in Alexander City, Ala., is a Tennessee commitment, but he is also looking at Alabama and Auburn. He visited Tennessee over the weekend and he will decide Friday. He will be in contact with coaches of all three schools Thursday. Nick Stephens (6-3, 195), a three-star quarterback from Flower Mound, Texas, has de-committed from Ole Miss and has committed to Tennessee. Jarrod Shaw (6-4, 340) a defensive lineman from Lafayette, La., chose the Vols over LSU Monday morning. Bottom line: 20 verbals and three weekend visits including FSU commit Brandon Warren (6-2, 230), an offensive lineman from Alcoa, Tenn. Former Vol offensive coordinator Randy Sanders has been hired at Kentucky as the quarterbacks coach.
Hawthorne (6-2, 199), a four-star receiver from Homewood, Ala., is visiting Tennessee this weekend. He said earlier in the week that Auburn and South Carolina were his leaders. Brandon Heath (6-0, 187), an athlete from Palm Beach Lakes, Fla., visits this weekend. Tennessee has yet to receive a commitment from the state of Florida. Heath has visited Louisville, Rutgers and West Virginia. Kelvin Sheppard (6-2, 220), a linebacker from Stone Mountain, Ga., is down to LSU and Tennessee. Ramone Johnson (6-4, 305), an offensive lineman from Morgan Park High in Chicago, is choosing between Illinois and Tennessee. Dekoda Watson (6-2, 206), a linebacker from Aiken, S.C., has visited South Carolina, FSU, and Tennessee. He visits Virginia Tech this weekend. Watson was the MVP of the Shrine Bowl. Victor Thomas (6-4, 263), a defensive end from Olive Branch, Ms., has committed to the Vols.
ALABAMA: Tide coach Mike Shula had an in-home visit Thursday with the nation’s top lineman Andre Smith (6-4, 325), from Huffman, Alabama. Auburn coaches are scheduled to come in this week also. Smith has cut FSU from his list. Javier Arenas (5-10, 180), a defensive back/kick returner, from Robinson High from Tampa Robinson, has committed to the Tide. Terry Grant (5-10, 180), a Rivals100 running back from Lumberton, Ms., had eliminated FSU and Clemson, but Thursday he said that he was still looking at Clemson, FSU, Southern Miss and Alabama. He is visiting Memphis this weekend. Marcus Udell (5-11, 175), a defensive back from Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby, is down to LSU and Alabama. Tide coaches visited him Wednesday and LSU coaches visited Thursday. LSU commit Marcus Tillman (6-4, 200), a defensive end from Franklin County, Miss., is visiting Alabama this weekend. Craig Stevens (6-3, 210), a four-star linebacker from Tallahassee Lincoln, is down to Alabama, Auburn and Clemson. He will decide by Friday. Bottom line-20 verbals with three visiting this weekend including Whitehead (6-6, 245), a defensive end from West End in Birmingham, Ala., who has narrowed his list down to Alabama, Auburn, Louisville and Tennessee.
ARKANSAS: Adrian Davis (6-4, 195), a safety from Rosenberg, Texas, committed to the Hogs over the weekend. Donnell Sanders (6-3, 212), a defensive end from College Park (Ga.) North Clayton, also committed to the Hogs. Allen Gardner (6-6, 205), a receiver from Dallas Carter, committed to the Hogs. Demarcus Love (6-5, 260), a three-star offensive lineman from Dallas (Texas) Carter, verbally committed to the Hogs. Ray Dominguez (6-5, 265), an offensive lineman from Bainbridge, Ga., has switched his commitment from Southern Miss to Georgia. Bottom line-20 verbals with at least six visiting this weekend including receiver Duke Calhoun (6-4, 185), from Memphis, Tenn.
Arkansas has moved its game against Southern Cal from Sept. 9 to Sept. 2 for television. The Hogs game against Louisiana-Monroe, originally set for Sept. 2 has been moved to Oct. 28. The Utah State game has been moved from Oct. 28 to Sept. 9. Reserve linebacker Matt Stoltz was arrested early Friday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless driving.
FLORIDA: Daron Rose (6-5, 310), an offensive lineman from Tampa Jefferson, who visited Florida this past weekend has eliminated the Gators. He will visit FSU this weekend. He is also considering USF, South Carolina and Michigan. Gator commitment Marcus Gilbert (6-6, 270), an offensive lineman from St. Thomas Aquinas, is not going to visit Miami next weekend despite a newspaper story to the contrary. Gilbert visited Florida this past weekend. Mon Williams (6-2, 192), a running back from Mesquite, Texas visited this past weekend. He praised the “family atmosphere” at Florida. Williams said he has made up his mind, but will not announce until signing day. He is also interested in Oklahoma State and Texas A & M. Allen Walker (6-2, 200), a running back from Olive Branch, Ms., visited this past weekend, but he maintains his commitment. Antonio Logan-El (6-4, 307), a four-star offensive lineman from Maryland, was looking at Florida, Tennessee, Maryland and Penn State. He chose Penn State.
Patrick Robinson (5-11, 169), a receiver from Miami Gulliver Prep, chose Florida over FSU Wednesday on Countdown to Signing Day. He visited Florida this past weekend. Notre Dame commitment Raeshon McNeil (6-0, 175), a Rivals100 cornerback from Mocksville (N C) Davie County, could receive a visit by the Gator staff. Coach Urban Meyer visited with C. J. Spiller (5-10, 190), a running back from Union County, Tuesday night. FSU, Florida, Southern Cal, Clemson and Miami are all in the mix. Miami coach Larry Coker is set to visit Thursday. Smith (6-4, 325), a five-star offensive lineman from Huffman, Ala., is visiting Florida this weekend. He has eliminated Auburn and FSU this week. His final list is LSU, Alabama, Southern Cal and Florida. Bottom Line: 28 verbals with Smith visiting this weekend. Former quarterback Josh Portis has enrolled at Maryland.
OLE MISS: Brent Schaeffer (6-2, 190), the junior college quarterback from the College of Sequoias, verbally committed to Ole Miss Friday night. He was down to Ole Miss and N C State. Cordera Eason (6-0, 240), a four-star running back from Meridian, Miss., also committed. Don Mosely (6-1, 293), a three-star lineman from Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough, committed to the Rebels Sunday afternoon. Bottom Line: 28 verbals with no visits. He has committed to South Florida. Defensive back Tyson Andrus, who left the program a few weeks ago, has returned. He did not play last season.
MISSISSIPPI STATE: Anthony Dixon (6-1, 230), a running back from Terry High in Miss., has committed to the Bulldogs. He is the No. 4 prospect in the Clarion-Ledger Ten Most Wanted List.
FLORIDA STATE: Michigan commitment Greg Mathews (6-3, 190), a receiver from Orlando Edgewater visited FSU this past weekend. Nole offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden will visit him on Thursday. Mathews said he is still committed to Michigan. Receiver Preston Parker (6-0, 175) and offensive tackle Orlando Franklin (6-6, 290), both from Atlantic Community (Delray Beach), visited FSU over the weekend. Parker said he thought FSU wanted Franklin more than him. Both players will visit Miami next weekend and announce their decisions on Feb. 1. Parker is looking at Minnesota, Georgia and N C State. Callahan Bright, who attended Hargrave Military Academy, is expected to enroll in a Division II school due to academics. FSU commitment Anthony Leon (6-3, 210), an athlete from Miami Gulliver Prep, is visiting Miami this weekend after the Canes offered him on Sunday. Bottom line: 19 verbals and 12 visitors this weekend including running back Spiller.

Clifton Geathers (6-7, 280), a lineman from Carvers Bay, SC, is looking at FSU, Georgia and South Carolina. He has kept everyone guessing. Also visiting this weekend is Marcus Sims (6-0, 211), a linebacker from North Florida Christian, who has a top three of FSU, Clemson and Southern Cal. Sims has an interest in playing running back, although FSU is looking at him at linebacker Rose (6-5, 310), an offensive lineman from Tampa Jefferson, is considering FSU, USF, Michigan and South Carolina. Some believe FSU and Michigan are his favorites. Nole coach Bobby Bowden visited Michael Morgan (6-2, 200), a linebacker from Dallas, Texas, last weekend. His choices are Texas A & M, FSU, USC and Oklahoma. FSU seems to be the leader. Ochucko Jenije (5-10, 177), a defense back from North Florida Christian in Tallahassee, recently visited Clemson but FSU is the team to beat. Mister Alexander (6-2, 183), a safety from Aldine, Texas is also visiting. He went to Arkansas last weekend. FSU is yet to offer, but he will probably verbal if they do. Offensive lineman Matt Meinrod was denied his medical hardship appeal for extra year of eligibility. His departure leaves FSU with five returning offensive linemen with experience as starters. Deas (6-4, 315), a four-star lineman from Ft. Lauderdale Dillard travels to LSU this weekend. Auburn, LSU, Nebraska and FSU coaches are visiting this weekend. Florida commitment Damon McDaniel (6-0, 192), a Rivals100 receiver from Landstown, Virginia, might now be leaning to FSU. Seddrick Holloway (5-10, 230), a fullback from Tallahassee Lincoln is verbal commitment No. 19. Brandon Walker (6-3, 315), an offensive lineman from Coffeyville, Kansas Community College, committed to Oklahoma over FSU.
MIAMI: Four players committed to the Canes over the weekend. Chris Lewis (6-2, 237), a defensive end/athlete from Fresno, Calif., committed to the Canes He is also a ranked wrestler. Daniel Stegall (6-2, 175), a quarterback from Greenwood, Ark., also committed to the Canes. He originally committed to Arkansas State, but had a relationship with newly hired Cane assistant Todd Berry. George Robinson (6-0, 190), a receiver from Miami Central, also committed. Joel Figuerora (6-4, 310), a lineman from North Miami (Fla.) High, de-committed from Rutgers and committed to Miami. The Canes have lost quarterback Pat Devlin (6-3, 200), who is from Exton, Pa. He visited Penn State and committed to them. Devlin had a good relationship with fired coaches Dan Werner and Art Kehoe. His parents are also Penn State grads. Colin McCarthy (6-3, 222), a linebacker from Clearwater Central Catholic, has committed to the Canes. His coaches compared him to former Cane Dan Morgan.
Bottom line: 19 verbals and seven visiting this weekend including Orlando Franklin (6-6, 290), an offensive lineman from Delray Beach who is choosing between FSU, Florida and Miami. Kylan Robinson (6-1, 215), a running back from Tampa Chamberlain in Fla., committed to Miami on “Countdown to Signing Day”. Jermaine Gresham (6-7, 230), a Rivals100 tight end from Ardmore, Oklahoma is visiting this weekend. He is between Southern Cal, Oklahoma and Miami. Preston Parker (6-0, 175), a receiver from Atlantic Community in Delray Beach, visits this weekend.
The Miami 2006 schedule was released Wednesday: FSU on Sept. 4, FAMU on Sept. 9, at Louisville Sept. 16, OFF Sept. 23, Houston Sept. 30, UNC Oct. 7, FIU Oct. 14, at Duke Oct. 21, at Georgia Tech Oct 28, Virginia Tech Nov. 4, at Maryland Nov. 11, at Virginia Nov. 18 and Boston College Nov. 23. This is the first time in 20 years that the Canes have played on Thanksgiving night. Miami’s opponents had a combined record of 79-62.
CLEMSON: Spiller, a running back from Union County, had an official visit to Miami over the weekend. After he got home Sunday night, five coaches from Clemson including Tommy Bowden, visited him at home. Spiller said he will visit FSU this weekend. He lists Clemson, Southern Cal as the schools where he could play early and Florida as a leader as far as his church home. Bottom Line: 19 verbals for the Tigers.
BOSTON COLLEGE: Justin Jarvis (6-4, 190), a receiver from Avon (Conn.) Avon Old, committed to BC this past weekend. He is verbal No. 19. Jarvis wants to be a finance major. BC has also offered Manny Abreu (6-4, 215), a linebacker from Union City ( N J) Union Hill. Bottom Line: 19 verbals with no visits this weekend.
GEORGIA TECH: Sedric Griffin (5-10, 201), a linebacker from Winnsboro (S C) Fairfield, has committed to Tech. Furman and Tennessee were also interested in him. Bottom Line: 16 verbals with no coming in this weekend.
