FLORIDA: West Virginia commitment Wondy Pierre-Louis (6-1, 180), a cornerback back/kicker from Naples, Fl., has signed with the Gators. Minnesota, West Virginia, Indiana and Wisconsin have offered him. He is originally from Haiti and hasn’t played much football. Knowshon Moreno (5-11, 205), a running back from Middleton, NJ, committed to Georgia over Florida. Mon Williams (6-2, 198), a running back from Mesquite, Texas, has signed Florida over Oklahoma State and Texas A & M. Josh Johnson (6-2, 235), a linebacker from Georgia Military Academy, who was also interested in South Carolina, signed with Marshall. Florida commitment Damon McDaniel (6-0, 192), a receiver from Landstown Va., changed his mind and signed with FSU over Florida and Ohio State. Gator verbal Damian Williams (6-2, 188), a receiver from Springdale, Ark., has changed his mind and committed to the Hogs. Best bets: Percy Harvin (6-1, 190), a receiver from Landstown, Va., the nation’s top recruit and Derrick Robinson (5-11, 168), a cornerback from Gainesville, are perhaps the fastest players in the class. The Gators have 27 signees. Coach Urban Meyer said 26- of- 27 would qualify.
Trent Pupello (6-2, 250), the brother of Gator signee Kyle Pupello, is walking-on. He originally signed with Georgia Tech, and then went to a junior college where he started before hurting his back. Also another possibly signee is Darian Baldwin (5-11, 176), a three-star defensive back form Homestead South Dade. Grades are an issue here.
ARKANSAS: Matt Hewitt (6-3, 209), a two-star safety from Wellsville NY Alfred State College, signed with the Hogs. London Crawford (6-3, 200), a three-star receiver from Mobile (Ala.) Davidson has changed his mind from LSU and signed with Arkansas. Ray Dominquez (6-5, 260), an offensive lineman from Bainbridge, Ga., has signed with Arkansas over FSU and Southern Miss. The Hogs signed 26 players including quarterback Mitch Mustin (6-3, 205), and receivers Williams and Andrew Norman (6-2, 180) and tight end Ben Cleveland (6-4, 250) from Springdale, Ark.
ALABAMA: The Tide’s top target-Andre Smith, a five-star offensive lineman from Huffman, Ala., signed with Alabama. He could be a four-year starter. Tide commit Earl Alexander (6-4, 200), a four-star athlete from Phenix City visited Auburn last weekend, but signed with Alabama. Deantwan “Peanut” Whitehead (6-6, 245), a Rivals100 defensive end from West End, Ala., chose Louisville over Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee. He had visited Alabama last weekend. Milton Talbert (6-2, 225), the No. 16 weakside three-star defensive end from Hattiesburg, Miss., signed with Alabama over Southern Miss. Terry Grant (5-10, 188), a running back from Lumberton, Ms., chose Alabama over Southern Miss. Ricardo Wright (6-2, 215), the linebacker from Dr. Phillips High in Orlando, Fla., signed with FSU over Alabama. The Tide signed 24 players. Alabama addressed offensive line needs with Taylor Pharr (6-6, 270) who is from Shades Valley (Ala.) High, Alex Stadler (6-6, 300) who is from Liberty (Va.) High and David Ross (6-4, 295) who from Homewood (Ala.) High in addition to Smith. Not more than 30 before Smith signed Mike Shula’s wife had their third baby. Shula has hired former Vanderbilt assistant David Turner to replace Paul Randolph.
AUBURN: Tiger commitment Alex Rose (6-2, 190), a receiver from First Coast High in Jacksonville, visited FSU over the weekend, but signed with the Tigers. Tim Hawthorne (6-2, 199), a four-receiver from Homewood, signed with Auburn. Byron Isom (6-2, 260), a lineman from Lovejoy, Ga., has signed with Auburn over South Carolina. Bryant Miller (6-3, 235), a four-star defensive end from Miami Central, has signed with Auburn. The Tigers have 25 signees Auburn signed eight of the top 15 players in the state of Alabama including receiver Tim Hawthorne (6-3, 205) who is from Homewood (Ala.) High. Auburn went to Newark, Maryland to get Benjamin Tate (5-11, 208), the career-rushing leader in the state. He has 4.4 speed. Defensive coordinator David Gibbs has left the team to pursue the NFL. Possible replacements are Charlie Strong of Florida, Randy Shannon of UM and Will Muschamp of the Miami Dolphins.
GEORGIA: Reshad Jones (6-1 173), a five-star safety from Booker T. Washington, signed with Georgia over LSU. He said LSU was his leader last week. He had eliminated Miami. Clifton Geathers (6-7, 280), a lineman from Carvers Bay, SC, is still deciding. Knowshon Moreno (5-11, 205), a running back from Middletown, N. J. signed with Georgia. Kris Durham (6-5, 186) is a big receiver from Calhoun, Ga., who could see early playing time. Matthew Stafford (6-3, 210), who is from Dallas, Texas, is the top quarterback in the nation. Geno Atkins (6-1, 270), a four-star defensive end, is a big plus.
KENTUCKY: In a major signing day surprise, Corey Peters (6-3, 295), a defensive lineman from Louisville (Ky.) Central, signed with Kentucky over Ohio State and Auburn. Assistant coach Joker Phillips was the chief recruiter in securing 17 signees. Micah Johnson (6-2, 267), a defensive end from Fort Campbell, who was Mr. Football in Kentucky, was one of the most important signees. This was easily Rich Brooks best signing class.
TENNESSEE: Ramone Johnson (6-4, 305), a four-star offensive lineman from Chicago Morgan Park, chose Tennessee over Illinois. He visited Tennessee last weekend. Vol commitment Michael Goggans (6-2, 247), a tight end from Benjamin Russell, will chose Auburn over Alabama and Tennessee. Walter Fisher (6-2, 265), a five-star defensive end from Coffeyville, Kansas Community College, will help plug some holes on the line.
SOUTH CAROLINA: Emanuel Cook (5-10, 197), a three-star running back from West Palm Beach Gardens, Fl., signed with South Carolina over N C State. Kenrick Ellis (6-5, 330) a four-star defensive lineman from Lake Worth, Fla., has committed to South Carolina. The Gamecocks needed offensive linemen and they signed four, four-star offensive linemen led by Clarence Bailey (6-6, 308) from Lackawana Junior College and Garrett Anderson (6-4, 270) from Irmo, S. C. Steve Spurrier got the quarterback he wanted in Chris Smelly (6-2, 201), who is from Tuscaloosa, Ala.
LSU: Tiger commitment Kelvin Sheppard (6-2, 220), a three-star linebacker from Stone Mountain, Ga., signed with LSU over Tennessee and recently Virginia Tech. His teammate, Perry Riley (6-1, 205), a three-star outside linebacker, signed with LSU over Tennessee. Jai Eugene (5-11, 169), a four-star cornerback from Destrehan, La., has changed his mind and committed to LSU over Michigan, his original verbal. Charles Deas (6-4, 315), a four-star defensive tackle from Fort Lauderdale Dillard, signed with LSU over FSU, Auburn and Nebraska. The Tigers met needs at linebacker and the offensive line. Al Woods (6-4, 329) is possibly the best player in Louisiana and one of the best defensive tackles in the nation. In a year’s time, Coach Les Miles went from being in the top 20 to being in the top 10 in recruiting.
OLE MISS: Marcus Tillman (6-4, 250), a four-star defensive end from Meadville, Ms., signed with Ole Miss over LSU.LSU. The Rebels have plenty of offensive help with quarterback Brent Schaeffer (6-2, 195), who played at the College of the Sequoias, running back Codera Eason (6-1, 235), Meridian, Miss., and receivers Allen Walker (6-1, 200), who is from Olive Branch, Miss, and Terry Levy (6-2, 195) who is from Kosciusko (Miss.) High.
MISSISSIPPI STATE: Keith Mills (6-3, 195), a two-star receiver from Alexandria, La., has switched his commitment from Southern Miss to Mississippi State. Kenny Ashley (5-8, 210), a four-star running back from Venice, Calif., signed with Southern Cal over Mississippi State. Anthony Summers (6-2, 200), an athlete from Olive Branch, Miss. and Anthony Dixon (6-1, 229), a running back from Terry (Miss.) High, were two of the better players from Mississippi who remained home.
MIAMI: Ian Symonette (6-9, 320), a three-star offensive lineman chose Miami over LSU. Orlando Franklin (6-6, 290), a four-star offensive tackle from Palm Beach Atlantic Community, visited Miami over the weekend. He signed with Miami over FSU. Jermaine Greshman (6-7, 230) a four-star tight end from Ardmore, Oklahoma visited Miami over the weekend. He signed with Oklahoma over Miami. LeSean McCoy (5-11, 204), a Rivals100 running back, from New Berlin (N Y) Milford Academy has verbally committed to Miami over Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Southern Cal. Kylan Robinson (6-1, 215), a four-star running back from Tampa Chamberlain, was able to sign his papers but not before his mother was delayed in Alaska by a volcano. Miami met needs in the defensive backfield and at running back. Richard Gordon (6-4, 265), a defensive end from New Berlin, N Y, could be a future star. WR coach Curtis Johnson could be leaving for the NFL.
FLORIDA STATE: Brent Brewer (6-2,190), a four-star receiver from Sandy Creek, Georgia has committed to FSU after meeting with baseball coach Mike Martin and coach Bobby Bowden. Tyler Graves (6-6, 242), a three-star offensive lineman from Sumrall, Miss., has committed to FSU. He was looking at Southern Miss and Mississippi State. Daron Rose (6-5, 310), a four-star tackle from Tampa Middleton, signed with FSU over South Carolina and Michigan. Nole commitment Brandon Warren (6-2, 230), a five-star defensive end from Alcoa, Tenn., enjoyed his visit to Knoxville last weekend, but signed with the Noles. Ochuko Jenije (5-10, 180), a four-star cornerback from North Florida Christian, signed with FSU over Clemson Arkansas, Alabama and Auburn.
Patrick Robinson (5-11, 169), a cornerback from Miami Gulliver Prep pledged to Miami, but signed with FSU. Marcus Sims (6-0, 211), a four-star running back from North Florida Christian, signed with FSU over Clemson and Southern Cal. Dekoda Watson (6-, 233), a linebacker from Aiken, S.C., has committed to the Noles. Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech were also recruiting him. Mister Alexander (6-2, 185), a safety from Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower, signed with FSU after finally being offered a scholarship. Arkansas, Washington State, and Arizona State have offered him. Damon McDaniel (6-0, 192), a receiver from Virginia Beach Landstown, signed with FSU over Ohio State and Florida. Marcus Ball (6-0, 205), a four-star linebacker from Stone Mountain, Ga., signed with FSU. Ricardo Wright (6-2, 215), an outside linebacker from Dr. Phillips High in Orlando, Fla., has signed with FSU over Alabama. Myron Rolle (6-2, 215), a five-star athlete, will contribute early for the Noles. Once again they had the best class in the ACC.
BOSTON COLLEGE: Jack Geiser (6-2, 240), a long-snapper from Dallas (Texas) Jesuit, has committed to the Eagles.
CLEMSON: C J Spiller (5-10, 190), a running back from Union (Fla.) County, was the plum signee spurning Florida and FSU. Assistant coach Jack Hines has resigned his position for other employment opportunities. Give credit to assistant coach Dabo Swinney for reeling in Spiller and DeAndre McDaniel (6-1, 190), four-star defensive back from Tallahassee Godby. Swinney said Spillers teammate Kevin Alexander (6-3, 215), a linebacker, had much to do with Spiller coming to Clemson. Ricky Sapp (6-4, 225), a five-star defensive end from Bamberg, S. C., has a promising future.
GEORGIA TECH: The Yellow Jackets have 15 signees with eight on defense and seven on offense. One player could go either way. Tech has three linebacker commitments and the rest of the positions are either one of two players deep. They have no offensive linemen because of ample depth at that position. Receiver Pat Clark, the Jacket’s top inside receiver, is moving to cornerback this spring.
VIRGINIA TECH: Marcus Ball (6-0, 205), a four-star linebacker from Stone Mountain, Georgia, signed with FSU, over Virginia Tech and Miami. He might end up in junior college or prep school. Dekoda Watson (6-2, 206), a three-star outside linebacker from Aiken, S C, signed with FSU, over Virginia Tech, and Tennessee.
NORTH CAROLINA: Aleric Mullins (6-1, 270), a three-star offensive lineman from Wendell (NC) East Wake, signed with Auburn over Tennessee and North Carolina. He visited North Carolina this past weekend.
N C STATE: Rashad Phillips (6-4, 210), a three-star tight end from Landstown, Virginia Beach, has signed with the Wolfpack. He was also involved with Syracuse.
VIRGINIA: Billy Cuffee (6-5, 330), an offensive tackle from Chesapeake (Va.) Deep Creek has committed to the Cavs. He was also considering Virginia Tech, Maryland, N C State and East Carolina.
MARYLAND: Jeremy Ricker (6-2, 201), a four-star quarterback from Harrisburg, Penns., could be the signal-caller of the future for the Terps. Melvin Alaeze (6-3 280), a five-star defensive end from Hargrave Academy, is a key recruit for the defensive line.
