You could say it's the oldest sport there is: Run or stand and fight. UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock thinks he's onto a whole new version of a combat sport.
How is it that you can invent a whole new sport these days? @ShamrockKen had seen almost everything in combat sports and had an idea for something better.

This should probably only count as Trevor Lawrence's second year. In fact, getting past that first one is a testament to his character. And in year two with Doug Pederson expectations are high.
Because it's a good fit.

I love this write up. I have followed Trevor from his high-school in Cartersville, Georgia through Clemson and now the Jaguars. I've called him a generational phenom. Thete are 2 or 3 out there right now. Trevor and Patrick Mahomes and maybe Josh Allen. I love your commentary and articles.
We celebrated the life of George Winterling with friends, family and colleagues here in Jacksonville yesterday. As loved as George was by viewers in North Florida during his tenure as a meteorologist, it was obvious today, he was more loved by his family and friends. The public George saved lives with his weather forecasting. The private George guided the lives of those in his family through love, trust, faith and example.
I learned how to act, both on and off TV from George, and saw today that same impact he had on others. In that time, as a TV anchor, there was certain relationship and trust that you built with your viewers that you didn't even realize was happening while you're on the set doing your job. George knew people were depending on him and he never let them down. He is perhaps the most trusted and humble news anchor that we'll see in our lifetime.
With his tenure as Chief Meteorologist starting at the beginning of local television news coming into our homes every night, George was a regular visitor to nearly every living room, every night in North Florida. You hear the phrase time and time again from viewers, "George was part of the family," and they meant it. He was the trusted friend people could rely on day in and day out to plan their days. He was part of their nightly routine as they planned their lives. Whether it was a sunny day outing, or to take shelter from a storm, George was the one to depend on. And he took that responsibility very seriously.
He invented the "humiture" to tell his viewers how it would feel outside. That's now been internationally adopted as the "heat index." Without computers and with resolute confidence, George had the skills and knowledge to predict Hurricane Dora would be a direct hit on Jacksonville in 1964. People believed George, and evacuated, saving many, many lives.
For most of George's career, there were two news cycles: the morning paper and the evening news. Local TV was the primary source for news, sports and weather. From using his skill as an artist to depict the weather on construction paper with markers to programing a computer and interpreting digital data, George spanned the "golden age" of local television.
I was able to be part of something very special in the thirty years George and I worked together. Along with Tom Wills and Deborah Giannoulis we formed the longest running four-person anchor team in the history of television A milestone that's likely not to be broken based on the current state of television. Our close relationship to our viewers was possible because of the consistency of hearing our voices and seeing familiar faces in their homes every night. During that time, there were limited options to find information, much different than today.
George certainly had a passion and a fascination for weather, but his biggest motivator was the impact he had on so many people's lives, even ones he didn't know. His countless visits to schools to tell children about the weather, his unfailing politeness to visitors to the station, his mischievous sense of humor and his dedication to his craft all made the mosaic of his public and private personality.
George was authentic in an oftentimes phony business. It was a great privilege to have worked with him during a time when local TV news meant something so special that you were considered "part of the family."
Thanks George. You taught so many of us so much.
